Board Members
The committee’s role is to lead, manage, and support the Shed’s activities. They have formal powers and legal responsibilities set out in the Shed’s Constitution. To enable the Shed to meet its aims, the Trustees develop a strategy and plans to maintain sound structure and sufficient resources. They make certain correct policies are in place, establish systems for reporting, monitoring, managing risk and to ensure compliance and accountability with governing documents, external regulators and the law. They are responsible for ensuring the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted properly and accurately reported.

Derek Stewart - Chair
My working life spanned sixty years in the catering sector, ten of those spent as a Petty Officer in the Merchant Marine, followed by thirty years in the health sector until my retirement as Catering Manager for NHS Tayside.
I joined the Men’s Shed nine years ago, and never looked back. No two days are the same with plenty enjoyable work, a chance to learn new skills and the camaraderie of my fellow ‘Sheders’.
I enjoy putting my management and organisational skills to good use wherever needed. In true seagoing fashion, I’m here to keep the Shed ship-shape and ready for whatever the future may bring. So, with an ever-watchful eye on the horizon, I’m keen to ensure its sustainability, and progress the Panmure Centre refurbishment programme to make our building a welcoming community space for all.

Gwen Rudol - Secretary
My career spanned thirty years at the Dental Hospital in Dundee. Whilst retired now, I’m still brimming with enthusiasm and really enjoy using my organisational skills to keep several projects on the go here. My commitment to the Shed is constant, and I hope to carry on being an asset and a good support to the members and my committee colleagues.
As the first woman member here four years ago, I’m delighted to see our numbers growing. It’s good to see Men’s Sheds evolving to become more inclusive where it helps their members and the communities they serve.
I like to get my teeth into an array of jobs, and my hopes for the future include growing the membership and completion of our future development plans.

Brian Fraser - Treasurer
My working life was mostly spent in the insurance sector providing individuals and businesses with a variety of products for financial protection against potential risks and losses. Now retired, I bring to the Shed the skills I picked up during my career – good communication, problem-solving, numeracy and attention to detail.
I became a member of the Shed five years ago, enjoy learning new and handy practical skills and working on any and all types of projects.
Always up for a challenge and the opportunity to use my organisational skills, I’m keen to support and push forward the Shed’s plans for the building refurbishment and growing our membership base.

John Pearson - Trustee
I worked as a mechanical engineer, involved in all aspects of the profession including design and development. I can turn my hand to most things in joinery, craft and the trades. Whilst retired now, I’ve never stopped working, so I joined the Shed seven years ago to put my skills and enthusiasm for invention to good use.
I’m always busy here developing new projects and products.
For the future, I’d like to see the Shed continue to develop and carry on doing my bit by creating new and different things to widen our product range.

John Gilmour - Trustee
My professional background was electrical engineering in an oil related sector for a large global company.
I joined the Shed soon after retiring in 2022 and signed up for a number of reasons. Mostly I like to keep busy and active, but also for the satisfaction of working on creative and interesting projects to benefit the local community.
I really enjoy the challenge of building new products and making use of my technical and personal skills. I’m a patient, enthusiastic team player who gets a lot out of teaching and passing on skills to others.
I’m keen to support the Shed wherever I can and look forward to having a role in its future development and help grow the membership.
