Creating a New Post in WordPress Dashboard

  1. Log In: Access your WordPress site by logging into the admin area using your credentials.
  2. Navigate to Posts:
    • On the left-hand side menu, click on "Posts."
    • Select "Add New" from the dropdown menu. This will take you to a new post editor page.
  3. Title Your Post: Enter a title for your post in the text field at the top of the page. It’s important to choose a descriptive and engaging title as it often appears in search results and on your site's homepage.
  4. Add Content:
    • Use the block editor below the title field to add content.
    • Click on "Paragraph" to start typing your main text.
    • To add images, click on the "+" icon or "Add Block" button, then select "Image."
    • You can also insert other types of blocks like headings, lists, quotes, and more by clicking the "+" icon.
  5. Format Your Post:
    • Use the toolbar above the text editor to change fonts, sizes, colors, alignment, and add links.
    • Format images with captions or align them to your preference using the block settings on the right sidebar.
  6. Set Categories and Tags (Optional):
    • On the right-hand side, under "Document," find "Categories" and "Tags."
    • Add categories by clicking "Add New" if needed.
    • Enter relevant tags separated by commas in the Tags field to improve searchability.
  7. Insert Featured Image: Click on "Set featured image" below the post editor to upload or select an existing image that represents your post well.
  8. Publish Your Post:
    • Once you are satisfied with your content, click the "Publish" button at the top right corner.
    • A prompt will appear allowing you to add a featured snippet and decide when your post goes live (immediately or scheduled for later).
  9. View Your Post: After publishing, click on “View Post” to see how it appears on your site.
  10. Edit Later if Needed: To edit the post in the future, return to "Posts" > "All Posts," find your post, and click "Edit."
